I have to agree, Brandon Lyons is a piece of s**t. There was a reason the D'Wacks didn't give him the closer job here. Even they were too smart for that!! I like the young pitching from the Tigers, I just don't know if Leyland can relate to the young players he now has. They will need to Magglio and Cabrera to hold the young players accountable and make sure they compete in the Central

I agree with a playoff system you would have the same arguement. Where do you cut teams off at 8? Then 9 and 10 will bitch. 16 then takes on too long. Lets face it we will never see a playoff because the money bowl games bring to schools big and small is to great. So as much as we have school spirit for our schools, lets just enjoy the games and hope one day the voters, aka the media who votes will actually watch games and vote accordingly. What am I saying the press is my byass then us as fans.

As much as I love the sport and agree with what you say, it is hard for me to look at baseball within that era and have any comfort in the so called memories I have from that time. I envy the people my age who got to see Mickey Mantle, and Joe DiMaggio. The Roberto Clemente, Lou Gehrig, Hank Aaron and Nolan Ryan. we got to see great players in a time where we as people could believe that any of us can be that person. If you think of the steroid era, it seems that 3 of the top players of our era, players we looked up to, were all on performance enhancing drugs. The players we looked up to in baseball all cheated. Alex was supposed to be the "clean" player who was going to be the "tainted" Bonds. Everyone said he would vindicate Aaron's record by surpassing Bonds. What now? What is to expect now? I appreciate Alex being honest and it does help, but the fact of the matter is the cloud will hang over his head. More importantly, it will hang over the head's of fans who are looking for an athlete to be a consummate citizen. Someone who can show that any growing child with a dream, can grow up to the top of the sport with hard work and effort. Until then MLB has a whole lot of rebuilding to do.

Haha I will agree that we did receive a lot of bandwagon fans in the 90's but the fact of the matter is when you go to Texas Stadium, and we are playing (insert ANY team here), it is still a sea of blue and silver in the stands. The day the Cowboys come to this city, and i attend the game to a despicable 90-10 Cardinal to Cowboy fan ratio, i will no longer call the fans of Phoenix phans. All teams have fake fans but we have enough real fans to fill a stadium. @Drew

My gripe is that this same thing thats going on with Cardinal fans right now is exactly where all the Dallas Cowboys fans came from in the 90's. I got so much Dallas Cowboys in the 90's I get sick when I see the Cowboy star! Now the puffy Cardinal Starter Jackets will be selling like hotcakes! Oopps this isn't 1995! haha

PS. not a Cardinal Fan, just a Cowboy hater!

Cardinals fans, all 87 of them, were crushed by this. The other 46,896 "fans" will shake it off letting their excuses comfort them. They showed up and didn't have the same will as their opponent, they had a poor game plan, and they went against their strength. Either way they did not win and I don't have to shoot myself after days of their Phans (I just decided that we should call all fans of Phoenix who are not true fans phans). Anyways, national signing day is here and i am excited to see the Texas Longhorns amongst the top recruit classes. Even UTEP has had a decent class, the most exciting since the beginning of the Mike Price era. More on this later, but i do agree that Michigan will be a contender in 2010.

I really hope Cardinal fans don't chalk that loss up to a single play or call near the end of that game. As you stated there are many instances that can be pointed out which loss them the game. Im going to make an analogy here, please dont get upset with me because you are a cubs fan, however I really hope the Cardinals don't turn this into a "Steve Bartman" moment like most cubs fans did (they should have been cursing Alex Gonzales or is it Gonzalez, I cant remember.) This also might be why the cubs fans unconditional love for their team and players may actually hurt them. They would have rather killed eaten one of their own (unjustly) than hold accountable the players who are actually responsible for losing the game *cough* Alex Gonzales *cough* bullpen. To cards fans, dont be the myopic monday morning QB that its tempting to become after a hard fought loss, just be glad you got there and say well do it next year.

I moved to Arizona in August. I never saw anyone walking around with a Cardinal's jersey until the last few weeks or so. Now I see windshields on cars all painted up with, "Go Cardinals". Yet in the beginning of the season I did not see ONE car with anything about Cardinal's on it.

Oh well....everyone wants something good to latch on to. Why not a team that is doing well. Pathetic? Yes. Human nature though.
